A Chinese farmer was executed on Tuesday after a court gave him a death penalty for the gruesome murder of communist party leader He Jianhua in February last year.

Jia Jinglong, a former farmer, shot He Jianhua, 55, on his head with a nail gun early last year. This was after his house was demolished by the local government and not compensated in 2013.
Most of his plans had been put on halt ranging from his marriage plans to his source of daily bread, farming.
Evidently, he developed anger against the local government for its failure to compensate him and bitter feelings engulfed his emotions, thus prompting the need to take 'necessary actions'.
During an official gathering, armed with the nail gun at hand, he approached the communist leader, and with a single nail shot to the head, Jianhua was pronounced dead.
The court gave the verdict and refused his request for an appeal that he had asked for last month.
A report by Xinhua News Agency quoted the Supreme People's Court terming his actions as "cruel in the extreme and the effect on society was extremely negative."
After a final visit from his family, Jia was finally put to death in the Northern City of Shijiazhuang.
On the other hand, the public has mixed opinions with regard to the incident. The greatest concern, however, rose as most argued over the government's misuse of power in matters to do with the lower- and middle-class people of the society.
Chinese media outlets also aired that the Jia actions were from a place of anger and he should be spared.
"Jia would probably not have acted as he did if his loss had been properly taken care off," read a news item by China Daily.
Land possession and corruption are a great source of worry for the Chinese community.
