China and Iran sign military pact, to cooperate against terrorism

China and Iran have agreed to collaborate for defense and military cooperation. Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan is currently on a three-day visit to Iran on the invitation of Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan.
Both the defense ministers inked a deal for holding join military drills. The agreement also provided for cooperation between the two countries for fighting terrorism. Iran and China will also work towards creating "a collective movement to confront this threat" of terrorism.

The agreement provides for the transfer of military expertise for countering terrorism and other threats to safety and stability. Iran said that it is ready for contributing towards collective action against terrorism and extremism.
Chang said that enhanced cooperation between the two countries is not only beneficial for China and Iran but also for the global stability and peace. He also said that more frequent interaction between the two nations and their armed forces will be further increased.
Iranian defense minister also echoed similar sentiments. Dehqan said continued cooperation between China and Iran will lead to regional and global peace. He said that Middle East currently faces a wave of terrorism that may pose danger to stability in the region and the world.
Dehqan added, "Today, the threat of Daesh and terrorism has turned into an important regional and international challenge." He also said that "China can play a very important role" in making a collective move against fighting the threat of terrorism.
Chang arrived in Tehran on Sunday. He is expected to meet several senior officials and dignitaries in Iran.
