Chinese drone maker DJI is poised to be the king of the skies as it unveiled on Tuesday its Phantom 4 Pro, an update of the Phantom 4 unit last March.
DJI's new Phantom 4 Pro comes with a better camera, highly technical obstacle avoidance system, longer batty life, and revamped intelligent flight modes.

Talking about the camera, the Pro boasts a 1-inch CMOS sensor with abilities to capture 20 megapixel stills and 11.6 stops of dynamic range, which allows the camera to balance and resolve light and dark differences.
Furthermore, while many drones face problems on "rolling shutter" effect, the Phantom 4 Pro is equipped with a new mechanical shutter to address motion problems like Jell-O effect, skewed lines, and warped-looking propellers, Wired noted. It also has the ability to adjust the lens aperture (f2.8-f11).
Its camera could also capture 14 photos per second in burst mode and shoot slow motion video at 60 frames per second. It has a maximum resolution of 4K with a very high bit rate of 100Mbps.
DJI also introduced a new subject tracking mode called ActiveTrack, which allows the Phantom 4 Pro to impressively detect all four sides, allowing the drone to trail a subject autonomously while flying sideways or backward. Moreover, because of its advanced sensors, the Pro could fly a top speed of 31 miles per hour while on obstacle avoidance mode.
It also has a revamped Return-to-Home mode that will guide it home from up to 300 meters away. DJI also claimed that when the Pro is losing its GPS signal, it will automatically return to its last connected position within a minute and hover while waiting for the users' next command, according to CNET.
It could navigate itself through narrow spaces, sophisticated environments, and waypoints by simply drawing a line on your map with a finger, The Verge noted. Its battery life has also been increased from 25 minutes to 30.
Another improvement to boast is that users can now buy a Pro Plus version that comes with a brighter-than-average-smartphones controller. Using the remote, users can flip radio frequency between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. It is equipped with a built-in GPS, an SD card slot, and a mini-HDMI port.
DJI's Phantom 4 Pro has a price tag of $1,499 or $1,799 if you pick the controller with the built-in screen. Preorder is available on the company's official website and select stores in Asia. Shipping will start next week.
