Indian badminton star Pusarla Venkata Sindhu advances to the next level of the ongoing 2016 BWF Thaihot China Open on Wednesday after successfully eliminating unseeded Chia Hsin Lee of the Chinese Taipei in the $700,000 World Superseries event in Fuzhou.
Sindhu, who has been handed the seventh seed spot of the prestigious tournament, scored an impressive straight-set triumph over her 19-year-old opponent. Basing from the competition's first round game results in the official website of the BWF, the Rio Olympic Games silver medalist defeated Lee with a 21-12, 21-16 win that lasted for just 34 minutes.

With the victory, the 21-year-old Sindhu will now be facing the current world No. 16 Beiwen Zhang, who ousted Hsu Ya Ching of the Chinese Taipei in 31 minutes of badminton action after an impressive two straight sets 21-16, 21-18 win.
The 26-year-old American, who was this year's ruling Dutch Open champion, is fresh from a runner-up finish in the recently concluded Yonex French Open last month and is also looking to win her maiden China Open title.
According to the International Business Times, Sindhu and Zhang have already faced each other on the court twice in the year 2011 with the Indian world No. 11 emerging as the winner of those two last encounters. The native of Hyderabad is the highly favorite shuttler to win in their third matchup.
Sindhu is looking to continue her stupendous performance after her recent successful campaign in the Olympics last August. However, the eight-year veteran badminton player suffered a disappointing run in the last Denmark and French Open that was held last month after being eliminated in the first round matches of both tournaments.
Sindhu is the only female Indian player left competing in the Fuzhou World Superseries event after the country's top women's singles shuttler Saina Nehwal was defeated in the opening round of the competition by Porntip Buranaprasertuk of Thailand in three sets.
