Bollywood star and model, Mallika Sherawat was reportedly tear gassed and beaten up by three masked intruders outside her Paris apartment.

The horrific incident on the 40-year-old Indian superstar comes just one month after Socialite and social media queen Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in a neighbouring flat. The incident happened last Friday when Sherawat and her French boyfriend, Cyrille Auxenfans arrived at her residential building after a night out in Paris.

Parisian newspaper, Le Parisien, described the attackers as masked men who wore scarves to cover up their faces and attacked the couple by spraying them with tear gas and punching them in the face. A criminal investigation has since been launched and investigators are working on the theory that it was an attempted robbery.

Auxenfans, who specialises in luxury real estate, owns the building where the incident happened. Officials who arrived at the scene after the couple called the police says that they had suffered minor injuries, it was later revealed that the attackers did not take any of the belongings that the couple had and the motive is still unknown. 

A spokesman for the Paris police has released a statement saying, "A full investigation to find the assailants is currently underway."

Sherawat has a huge following in India where she has appeared in more than 20 hit movies, she has since made it to Hollywood and has appeared in the US TV show, 'Hawaii Five-O'. Aside from being a successful actress, she is also an outspoken feminist who frequently complains about the numerous attacks on women in her home country of India.
