In a huge disappointment for Indian fans, both PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma lost their respective finals in the Hong Kong Open on Sunday. Their loss meant that India's hopes of winning twin titles in the event were dashed.
Both players lost their final encounter in contrasting fashion, with Sindu going down timidly while Verma showed much needed grit against his opponent.

Sindhu lost 15-21 17-21 to Taiwanese opponent Tai Tzu Ying in a match that lasted for nearly 41 minutes. The loss prevented the Rio Olympic silver medalist from winning her second successive super series title.
Verma, on the other hand, valiantly went down 14-21 21-10 11-21 to Hong Kong's Ng Ka Long Angus in an pulsating encounter.
With commanding victory over Sindu, the world no. 3 Tzu Ying got a sweet revenge, as she lost to Indian badminton ace in the recently concluded Rio Olympics.
Tzu Ying was in full control of the match from first game itself, as she produced a flawless performance to take the first set 21-15. The Indian star, however, got some momentum in the second game to take 11- 10 lead against the Taiwanese.
However, the lead lasted only for brief moment, as Tzu Ying stepped up her performance to win the deciding set and clinch the Hong Kong Open 2016.
Sindhu's loss, however, does not overshadow the fact that she reached the finals of successive super series tournament for the first time in her career. The Indian star had won her maiden China Open title only last week.
