China’s top official now being investigated for corruption

The investigation team mentioned that Jiang was under suspicion of "serious violation of discipline." This is the term used by the Chinese government to refer to graft. Jiang, who is yet to release comment about the issue, is facing allegations that are placed on those who are overseeing companies which are ran by the government.

With President Xi Jinping promising to eliminate the widespread corruption in the country, saying that it poses danger to the Communist Party. All probing and investigations are being handled by Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the presiding Communist Party watchdog against graft and corruption. Other details about the investigation were not revealed.
Jiang was head of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) until March, when it faced with several accusations of corruptions. Just last week, local authorities released news that four more officials from the China National Petroleum Corporation were also placed on investigation for suspicion of corruption.
In the past few months, a lot of notorious cases have been filed targeting top officials from China. One of the most high-profile cases is that of Bo Xilai, a senior party official who was placed on trial last August for allegations of embezzlement, abuse of power, and bribery. The outcome of the case is not yet decided, but up to date, Bo denies all accusations against him.
Also happened during the early weeks of August, another general manager of a government ran telephone company, China Mobile Ltd., was incarcerated in Guangdong province's south area. The general manager was also placed under investigation for several violations of discipline.
Online followers have shown increased interest in the pursuit of those who are suspected of corruption by launching online campaigns. Recently however, authorities have been concerned with the increasing numbers of journalist being held under arrest for spreading false information to the public. There were also reported cases of bloggers being arrested for the same accusations.
