Basketball News: Cleveland Cavaliers’ Tyronn Lue, Golden State Warriors’ Steve Kerr Named NBA Coaches of the Month

Tyronn Lue of the league's reigning champion Cleveland Cavaliers and Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors on Friday have each been named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month, respectively, for the matches played in October and November.
According to the official website of the NBA, the 39-year-old Lue, who was able to match the best 16-game start in franchise history, guided the Cavaliers to an Eastern Conference-best 13-3 win-loss record over the first five weeks of the season. The product of Nebraska Cornhuskers ushered the Ohio-based professional basketball club to an impressive season start with six straight triumphs.

The Cavaliers currently leads the Eastern Conference in points per contest while averaging 111.3 points per game. Cleveland also tops all the other teams in the East in 3-point percentage (.390), and three-pointers made (221) including their team record of 21 treys in their 137-125 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Nov. 23.
Kerr, who was the last season's Coach of the Year winner, led the Golden State to an NBA-best 16-2 win-loss record in October and November, including 12 victories in a row entering December. The Warriors led the league in scoring and in assists with 117.6 points and 31.1 assists per outing, basing from the report of The Score.
Under the guidance of the 51-year-old former Chicago Bulls guard, the Dubs registered a remarkable 50.2 percent shooting clip from the field and posted an average of 6.6 blocked shots per game.
The Warriors carved at least 30 assists in 10 successive matches, the longest streak in franchise history, and on Nov. 23, they registered a team-record of 47 assists in a 149-106 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Charlotte's Steve Clifford, Toronto's Dwane Casey, and Chicago's Fred Hoiberg were the other nominees for the monthly honor in the Eastern Conference, while San Antonio's Gregg Popovich, Clippers' Doc Rivers, Memphis' David Fizdale and Lakers' Luke Walton in the Western Conference.
The award was the fourth Coach of the Month honor of Kerr's career, and Lue's first.
