Russia is considering of delivering goods from China through Azerbaijan, Rashid Ismailov, Russian Federation's deputy minister of telecom and mass communication, told Trend.

"We considered delivery of Chinese goods to Russia by our planes, transshipping them from here [Azerbaijan], but Silk Way [Azerbaijani cargo airline] has opened a subsidiary in Moscow which allows delivering goods directly to Moscow or Yekaterinburg, depending on the necessity," he said.

The news came after Russia and Azerbaijan are reportedly preparing to sign a cooperation agreement in the field of postal services.

Meanwhile, Russia has also offered Azerbaijan last month to initiate joint tourism packages to lure Chinese tourists in the country, the AzerNews reported.

"Given the preference of Chinese tourists for package tours, Russia offers us to discuss creation of joint tourist packages that would include, let's say, the North Caucasus and Azerbaijan," Rauf Pashayev, the deputy head at the Tourism Department of Azerbaijan's Culture and Tourism Ministry, said.

Pashayev said that the ministry will discuss the proposal, while Azerbaijani will consider its contribution for the said project. He further noted that the ministry aims to increase the influx of tourist in Azerbaijani, especially those from Russia.

"To this end, we have opened a representative office in Russia in 2016," he said, adding that it will further strengthen its tourism promotion via Russian TV channel ads and increase Russian population's awareness about the country.

"This year we see an increase in the number of tourists from Russia by a few percent, and I think this figure will only grow in the future," Pashayev said.
