Project Spark is being developed by Team Dakota for the Microsoft Windows platform, including Xbox 360 and Xbox One game consoles.
The "game making" video game won't require players to have an Xbox Live Gold Membership to play it, said Mike Lescault in a post on social media site reddit.
A demonstration of Project Spark's cross platform compatibility was made last year during Microsoft's build developer conference.
Project Spark users and gamers will be assisted in building the games they like by using Microsoft's Smart Glass or Xbox One's Kinect, while their creativity won't be restricted.
It's a game where players and users have the ability to build their own games, They can also create environments such as rivers and mountains, plants and animals, characters and events.
It can also be used to make movies.
Mitch Dyer of IGN called Project Spark a fascinating "strange mixture of complex and rudimentary."
A music video was made for Linkin Park's song, "Guilty All the Same," as a demonstration for the potential uses of Project Spark.
Project Spark is a "game maker" video game for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It was launched as a Windows open beta in December 2013. An Xbox One beta was released in March 2014.
Project Spark is basically a "digital canvas" that can be used to make games, movies and other experiences. A gamer can create his own content or download other user-generated content. He can also remix content.
