Pluripotent Stem Cells
A new study from the European Bioinformatics Institute shows that human pluripotent stem cells can be reset to a fully pristine state
The institute said they can differentiate any type of cell with the use embryonic stem cells.
Paul Bertone, one of the researchers, said reverting cells to a blank state has been a routine activity in animals but is more challenging in humans.

He said that with the help of iPS cell technologies, they can reset human cells back to a fully pristine state, or the point of their greatest developmental potential.
Researchers reprogrammed two different genes called NANOG, a gene involved in the self-renewal of stem cells and KLF2, a gene involved in biochemical processes of the human body.
This reprogramming resulted in the development of a genetically normal cell that can differentiate any adult cell type, they added.
Their findings show it's possible to rewind the clock and transform human pluripotent cells, which could be the starting point in the formation of tissues in a human embryo.
Researchers hope their findings will allow them to unlock the fundamental biology of the early development of humans.
They believe their discovery could pave the way for the production of superior medicines that can reset human stem cells.
