Spurs Grab Home Win Against Nets

Despite a sloppy start when playing at home, the San Antonio Spurs managed to get things together and grabbed a much needed home win in order to bring momentum back to its home turf. The Spurs crushed the New Jersey Nets, 101-130.

The Spurs now have a 19-5 record, while the severely undermanned Nets drop to 6-16.

The Spurs ignited its offense early in the game, finishing the first quarter with 41 points against the Nets' 26. The Spurs continued its strong offensive output in the third quarter outscoring the Nets, 18-36.

According to New York Daily News, leading the Spurs is Kawhi Leonard who finished the game with 30 points, on a 10-of-18 shooting, including a perfect trip to the free throw line. LaMarcus Aldrige added 12 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Paul Gasol had 15 points, and returning from injury is Tony Parker with 12 points.

The Spurs' bench players were also on fire. Patty Mills had 16 points and four assists including a highlight alleyhoop to Jonathon Simmons who himself had 14 points.

According to NBA.com, the Nets' offense was led by Bojan Bogdanovic with 20 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Luis Scola, who came off the bench, had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Brook Lopez added 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Joe Harris had 10 points and four rebounds.

Sports analysts said that the Nets' loss was inevitable, as they face a very formidable team. The Nets, which ranked 28th in the league in terms of defense, gave the Spurs an easy win. On the other hand, the Spurs recorded 38 assists throughout the game, the third highest total by a team this season.

The Nets will fly to Houston on Tuesday, while the Spurs will be hosting the Celtics on Thursday.
