China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said the United States has briefed China about the evidences that the US gathered to support its claim that Syria used chemical weapons in an attack that killed more than 1,400 people.

In a news briefing, Hong said the US also briefed China on relevant decisions by US President Barack Obama, who delayed a military action against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Hong, however, did not elaborate on the comment of China regarding the evidence presented by the US although he reiterated China's stance against the use of chemical weapons by any country and that the Chinese government fully supports the conduct of an independent investigation by the United Nations experts.
China Expresses Serious Concerns
Hong also stressed that China is seriously concerned about the plans by some countries for a unilateral military action. While Hong did not mention any country, it is only the US that has been vocal about its plant to conduct military actions in response to the alleged chemical weapons use in Syria.
Obama, however, has put on hold the planned military action as he goes to Congress to seek for approval before taking any action against the regime of Al-Assad. The US President stressed though that it will still be his decision to whether or not go on with the planned military action.
UN Conducting Investigation
China earlier warned any country against drastic military operations against Syria while the UN is conducting an independent investigation to determine the truth about the alleged chemical weapons attack that killed 1,400 people, including several children.
Syria's opposition group claimed it was Syrian President Al-Assad who ordered the chemical weapons attack but the Al-Assad denied the allegations. The Syrian President also said he supports the conduct of investigations to determine what really happened in last month's attack near Damascus.
