China is favorably considering to establish a factory in Thailand to produce and repair its armaments, welcoming Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwon's proposal to Beijing.
The proposal was allegedly raised by Prawit in a meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan during his two-day visit in Beijing, according to Defense Spokesman Khongcheep Tantrawanich on Tuesday.

Prawit purportedly suggested that the factory will make and repair armaments China supplies to Thailand and other countries as well as become a source of weapon parts and technology transfers, the Bangkok Post noted.
Prawit's Chinese counterpart welcomed the proposal and agreed to create a group to realize the project, Khonghceep said. Chang also expressed his interest on boosting both countries' military relation including joint military exercises, national defense readiness, and exchange visits.
In a related news, China and Thailand have also signed several deals to strengthen the nations' bilateral cooperation including railway collaboration and agricultural technology, the Prensa Latina reported.
The agreements followed the Fifth Meeting of the China-Thailand Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation held on Dec. 9 in Beijing where both parties agreed to expand its five-year economic and trade cooperation plan, increase pragmatic cooperation, and team up on the Strip and Route Initiative to improve regional connectivity.
They also agreed to ensure full use of existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, share development strategies, and continue to enhance trade, investment, and greater reciprocity projects, China's Ministry of Commerce said on its website.
Meanwhile, Wang Yong, Chinese state councilor who co-chaired the meeting with Thai Deputy Prime Minister Sokid Jatusripitak, said that the idea of "China and Thailand being the members of one family" was conceived among the people and by both nations as they share a wide spectrum of cooperation prospects.
