Myanmar authorities on Thursday vowed to ensure that the ongoing war in the country will not reach the mainland borders. The initiative comes after Chinese officials of the People's Liberation Army aired their concerns during a five-day state visit in Myanmar.

"As a country, we will work to ensure that the issue to do with the border is handled appropriately," a military personnel for Myanmar said, noting that the Myanmar army would see to it that every resident in the Myanmar-China border would be safe and the region would not be affected by the ongoing war.
"We will work to ensure that no Chinese resident is injured and ensure stability."
The move followed after Zhao Zongpi, a commander at the PLA's western district, said that the war in Myanmar had already started penetrating into the Chinese community, The Independent reported.
Zhao said that stray bullets had already hit the border and the war had already damaged a great deal of property in the region.
"China is concerned at the armed clashes in northern Myanmar injuring Chinese border resident," Zhao said. "We hope Myanmar can strengthen border management, prevent stray bullets from entering into China and more importantly maintain the peace and tranquility in the border."
The currently ongoing war is believed to have started on Nov. 20 this year after three ethnic-bound groups, namely, the Kachin Independence Army, Ta'ang National Liberation, and Myanmar Democratic Alliance attacked Myanmar security teams in Muse and Kutkai towns.
China has, however, been on a mission to foster peace in the region. Wang Yi, China's Minister for Foreign Affairs, said that the Chinese state is ready to assist in any way to ensure that the region regained peace.
