The world's current highest-rated Chinese women's singles badminton player Sun Yu continues to do wonders in the ongoing 2016 BWF World Superseries Finals in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
After a successful opening day battle against the incumbent second-highest ranking female shuttler in the planet, world no. 6 Sun finished off another important match by beating 10th-ranked PV Sindhu of India in the second day of the event on Thursday following her triumph against world no.2 Carolina Marin of Spain last Wednesday.

According to the official website of the BWF, the 22-year-old Chinese badminton ace defeated the Rio Olympics silver medalist with a 21-15, 21-17 win at the Hamdan Sports Complex to remain undefeated in Group B. The match took 49 minutes before Sun wrapped up the sweet victory and registered her fourth win against the 2016 BWF Most Improved Player of the Year winner in seven attempts since 2011.
With her latest triumph, Sun, who won all her two matches in straight games, is guaranteed to reach the semifinal round of the prestigious USD 1 million season-ending world superseries event. She will still face second seed Japanese Akane Yamaguchi, who prevailed over Marin in three sets 18-21, 21-17, 21-14, to complete her scheduled matches in the group phase.
Basing from the two player's head-to-head matchup record, Sun enjoys a 2-1 lead over the 19-year Yamaguchi. The Chinese shuttler defeated the Japanese player in straight sets twice this year.
The 2015 Singapore Superseries winner beat Yamaguchi in the XiamenAir Australian Badminton Open last June and got the better of the Japanese player last September at the Yonex Japan Open. On the other hand, Yamaguchi scored her first victory over Sun at the Thaihot China Open two years ago.
The native of Dalian, Liaoning, is looking to win her maiden World Superseries Finals crown and the first title of the season. Sun had reached the final round of at least six tournaments this year but fell short in winning a title.
