Perdue Accuses Nunn Of Being ‘Too Liberal’ In New Political Ad

Republican David Perdue attacked his opponent Michelle Nunn (D) for being "too liberal" in his first ad for the Georgia senatorial race.
In the TV ad, Perdue said Nunn has already admitted that "she's too liberal" and that her nonprofit organization, the Points of Light foundation, "gave money to organizations linked to terrorists."

Perdue's political ad also cites a leaked campaign document early this year as its source. The document compiled memos made by Democratic strategists specifically for Nunn and her senior advisers, according to USA Today.
However, analysts said the leaked campaign document does not really "admit" to anything, and that the said grants were actually money from eBay sellers that was donated to her foundation's U.S. partner Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief USA is a federally approved charity, and experts said there was no evidence linking the organization to any terrorist group.
Nunn, for her part, hit back at Perdue for pay discrimination.
In her new ad that was out last week, the first-time Democratic candidate asks Georgia voters, especially women, if they can trust Perdue, who she says engaged in "a pattern of discrimination" during his tenure as chief executive officer of Dollar General.
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission investigators learned that women store managers at Dollar General experienced discrimination and "generally were paid less" than their male counterparts during Perdue's tenure as CEO, according to TIME.
The independent investigation prompted the company to pay a settlement of more than $18 million to some 2,100 female employees.
Perdue and Nunn are battling for the U.S. Senate seat of Republican Saxby Chambliss, who is set to retire at the end of the year.
Perdue is currently enjoying a slight lead of 1.6 percent in the polls, but Nunn has 45 percent of the women voters on her side, according to surveys.
