The legendary investor also talked about the US stock markets. When asked about the increase in market since Trump's election, Icahn said he is only "concerned about the market in the short term." He added that there are several factors that require attention.
Icahn did not deny the possibility of trade war with China. He stated, "Obviously, if you get into a trade war with China, sooner or later, I think we're going to have to come to grips with that, maybe it's better to do it sooner." However, he clarified that he is not involved in the decision-making process.
Trump has railed against Chinese business practices and made a number of appointments, which are widely considered to be adverse for China.
Trump's appointment to Peter Navarro to lead a newly formed White House National Trade Council is also a cause of concern. He has authored a number of books including "Crouching Tiger: What China's Militarism Means for the World" and "Death by China."
Icahn is also known for his tough stance on China. He will be advising Trump on various matters such as regulations and the selection of the new head of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
