Elton John leads the star-studded tributes to George Michael

Legendary singers Elton John, Boy George and Andrew Ridgeley led the star-studded tribute to George Michael after the star tragically passed away on Christmas day.
They joined an array of shocked a-listers such as Martin Fry, Ricky Gervais and Michael's peers from Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran.

Elton John was the first to pay tribute to his friend via an Instagram post saying that he was in complete shock after hearing the news that his friend had passed away. The post was captioned 'I am in deep shock. I have lost a beloved friend who is one of the kindest, most generous souls and a great artist. My heart goes out to his family and all his fans.'
Meanwhile, Andrew Ridgeley who formed the band, Wham! with Michael took to twitter saying, "Heartbroken at the loss of my beloved friend. Me, his loved ones, his friends, the world of music, the world at large. You are forever loved. A xx"
Former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell, also tweeted about the singer's passing saying, "So so sad, RIP George Michael, a dear friend. The kindest, most generous & talented person. My thoughts are with his family." Geri had previously revealed that Michael was the 'only celebrity friend' she had aside apart from the Spice Girls, she had also revealed that the singer was very normal when spoken to in a one-on-one environment.
According to his publicist George passed away peacefully at this home in Oxfordshire at 1:42pm, on Christmas day.
The singer had previously battled drug and alcohol addiction. However, the circumstances surrounding his passing have not been confirmed.
