Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling welcomed their surprise baby girl on Friday. However, the couple made no announcement about it until Us Weekly confirmed the news.

It was revealed last July that Mendes, 40, and Gosling, 33, were expecting their baby although  rumors circulated that the two had parted ways for quite a while. Well, anyway, there's been no formal statement made about that.

Earlier this year, Mendes denied rumors about her pregnancy during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"It's so ridiculous," she said in DeGeneres show last February. She mentioned that her refusal to go through the x-ray scanner at the airport fended rumors about her pregnancy.

"You know those X-ray scanners, which are really creepy? They basically see you naked, right? And not only that, but there's a radiation aspect to it, so I always opt out."

Mendes had been out of the public eye during her pregnancy. In fact, her last red carpet appearance happened last February at a Violet Grey dinner dedicated to the late Elizabeth Taylor in L.A. After news circulated about her pregnancy, she did everything to hide her baby bump, either wearing several pieces of clothes at the same time or wearing a large bag to conceal her tummy.

According to Mendes, Gosling was a dotting partner and the two got even closer together during her pregnancy.

Mendes mentioned that Ryan has been doing the groceries and when Eva craved for pasta, and Ryan would cook it for her.

"Ryan has already stepped into the role of caring father-to-be," a source for Us Weekly said.

Mendes and Gosling started dating late 2011 after the two appeared together in The Place Beyond the Pines.

In an interview with London's The Times, Gosling quipped that he'd keep on making movies "until I make babies."
