The search area for the missing student from the University of Virginia has been adjusted on Tuesday in accordance with the new piece of evidence obtained by the police. The missing freshman is said to be the at least the fourth person to disappear in the area within five years.
Hannah Elizabeth Graham, 18, was reported missing by her friends on Sunday. Police have since then scoured the general vicinity of her school and other typical student hangouts. However, a surveillance footage obtained by the police showed Graham early Saturday. She was shown to be walking outdoor-just outside the bar where her friends last saw her. In a statement from Lt. Robbie Roberts, he disclosed that the original focus area of the search was then shifted to the eastern part. The unreleased video served to be the most valuable lead the authorities have in this case.

On Monday, a bloodhound was used to search a particularly large area located at the northeast portion of Graham's university. However, no trace was found by the search party. Despite the first futile attempt since the police shifted to another search area, Graham's parents John and Susan Graham, as well as her brother James, remain hopeful that she will be found. The family shared that are "heartbroken" with the news of the failed search earlier, but shared that they stay optimistic that she will be returned home soon.
"Those of us who know and love Hannah know that she would not disappear without contacting family or friends," shared the family in a statement. "She is highly responsible and organized," they added. At present, the Grahams are staying in Charlottesville.
Assisting in the search operation are the Virginia State Police and the Albemarle County Sheriff's Office. In addition, the FBI, the Virginia State Police, and other law enforcement agencies have decided to collaborate with the search team to help the family find their loved one. Despite having other cases pertaining to the disappearance of women in the area, authorities believe that no connection exists among them.
