Jeremy Lin has reportedly remained hopeful about his latest injury setback and said that it felt less serious than the first one.

Lin had signed with the Brooklyn Nets last summer and was expected to become the undisputed backcourt leader of the fading club. However, the six-year pro has not met those expectations yet as he has been struggling with hamstring injuries this season.

He suffered his first hamstring injury during the team's fifth game of the season on Nov. 2. The former Harvard standout has missed 19 games, including 17 straight, before returning on Dec. 16. He played five more games before succumbing to a second hamstring injury on Dec. 26 in a 120-118 win over his former team Charlotte Hornets. He has missed three games

Overall, Lin has played only a total of 12 out of the Nets' first 33 games because of injuries.

"It's been difficult. The night I got hurt, I didn't feel like talking or was just not in a place where I had anything to say to anybody. That night, I was pretty upset," said Lin about his second hamstring injury, via the New York Post. "I think the whole process has been not what I anticipated in terms of you get this opportunity to be on this team."

ESPN reported that there is "still no timetable for his return from the second hamstring injury", but Lin is said to have remained confident about the whole situation. He also confirmed that the latest injury was in a different area of his leg and that it is not as serious as the initial damage.

"Yeah, I can definitely say that. It's a different area, the other side, and it hurt a lot less when it happened," he said. "Everything's progressing better than the previous one, so I'm definitely very encouraged. Yeah, definitely if it was the same exact spot, it'd be a different tune."

The Nets are 3-9 when Lin played this season and are currently in the last place in the Eastern Conference with an 8-25 record.
