Chinese Couples Tie the Knot on Harbin's Snow and Ice Festival [VIDEO]

(Photo : Getty Images) Eighteen couples bravely braced the cold and tied the knot on Friday as part of Harbin's Ice and Snow Festival.
A mass wedding ceremony witnessed 18 couples bracing the cold weather to tie the knot on Friday as part of the Harbin International Ice Festival in China.
The Strait Times reported that the couples braced a freezing red carpet entrance at the festival, as the temperature was recorded at minus 20 degrees Celcius. The brides were beautifully dressed on their wedding gowns with a bouquet on their hands, while grooms donned in either a suit or tuxedo.

The weddings were held at 9:38 a.m., as the number eight is symbolic of good luck in China.
The couples also exchanged their vows and kissed in front of the cameras and spectators, who were there to witnesses the romantic ceremony.
Meanwhile, most of the couples present were already married but were interested in participating in the event.
One of the newly weds explained that the occasion and the weather conditions had been a great experience.
"We are from Guangzhou and it does not snow there," the couple said. "Coming here, everything around us is a winter wonderland of powder and jade."
The chilling wedding ceremony is one of the many features that attracts visitors to the annual festival. This year's Snow and Ice Festival kicked off on Thursday evening with a great number of artist showcasing their various artifacts.
