Microsoft Launches Universal Mobile Keyboard to Support Three OSs

Microsoft unveiled a new, cross-platform mobile keyboard that can work with Windows, Android and iOS devices, too.

People that use the "Universal Mobile Keyboard" will only need to switch on the protective cover to turn on the Bluetooth-enabled keyboard.

The keyboard features a "chiclet"-style key set. It includes an OS switch that allows users to change from one operating system to another while maintaining full functionality.

It has a rechargeable battery. Microsoft said it provides up to six months of usage on a single charge.

An integrated stand can be easily detached, allowing users to position their tablet however they like.

This is Microsoft's move to reach out to users on platforms other than its own Windows and Windows Phone.

The Universal Mobile Keyboard will be available this October for US$79.95. Users can purchase it from Microsoft Store and at other retailers.

The Universal Mobile Keyboard will make is unnecessary for a user to have various accessories for different devices.

"People frequently find they have a mixture of operating system platforms, resulting in them having to carry different accessories for each device," explained Suzanne Choney. Microsoft spokesperson.

Aside from the newly invented keyboard, Microsoft will also have the new version of the Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse; a new Xbox One controller for PCs and three new limited-edition models of the Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500.
