The United States dropped an estimated 26,171 bombs in seven countries last year, which were 3,027 more than that of in 2015, according to the data released by the Council on Foreign Relations.
However, although the airstrikes were conducted on seven countries, nearly 93 percent of those were dropped in Syria and Iraq, based on the data visualization shown by Graphiq. Both countries suffered 12,000 bombs each, China's CCTV noted.

US bombing in Afghanistan also increased to 1,337 in 2016, which is nearly 50 percent increase compared with that of in 2015. Air strikes, however, decreased in countries such as Yemen with 34, Somalia with 14, and Pakistan with three in the last two years.
Tucson News noted that the increase of US bombing could be attributed to the rising violence brought by the Islamic State, which is the primary target of US airstrikes in the Middle East and Africa.
While the US increased its military campaigns of ISIS strongholds last year, including in Iraq's Mosul and Syria's Raqqa, terrorist attacks from the group also increased, with massacres recorded at a bigger global scale.
Libya, which has been fighting since the fall of longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi in 2011, is the only new country added to the list, suffering 496 explosives. A US air strike was carried out in the country in August against the ISIS.
However, Micah Zenko, a senior fellow of the council, noted that "This estimate is undoubtedly low, considering reliable data is only available for airstrikes in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and Libya."
The report also did not consider the number of bombs dropped per strike and the US-supplied bombs dropped by other countries, which is likely quite a huge figure since US is the world's biggest weapon exporter.
