Hong Kong actor Sunny Chan has turned down TVB's offer to rehire him, preferring to stay with HKTV even as the latter has yet to receive its broadcast license.
Faced with the problem of its top stars leaving, TVB has recently turned to rehiring its former stars, including Sunny Chat, but the "Curse of the Royal Harem" actor is said to have declined the offer on the spot.

According to reports, after his contract ended in 2013, Chan chose not to renew his ties with TVB as he wanted more freedom and more time to spend with his family.
Additionally, the 47-year old actor already had a deal with HKTV, which he chose over his former company because of their more flexible filming schedules.
Chan admitted that representatives from TVB contacted him, asking about his situation and encouraging him to terminate his contract with HKTV, which he said he declined.
He said he has no problem filming with TVB, but he does not want to end his contract with the network he is with now. Chan added that money isn't the issue and 'people should have their principles'.
HKTV is currently waiting for the government to approve its broadcasting license, which also left Chan waiting to start work. Pending the issuance of its license, HKTV had temporarily stopped its productions and was said to be laying off some staff.
Despite the problem, Chan said he will stay with the network throughout the duration of his four-year contract. During the waiting game, he got his wish to spend more time at home with his wife, Ada To, and their son.
Chan is currently doing a Sunday hosting gig at a radio station for the program "Family Affairs" with his wife.
