Latest rumors have emerged that the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a potential Reggie Jackson-Ricky Rubio swap but Stan Van Gundy reportedly denied the speculations.

The Pistons and Wolves "have discussed" a possible point guard exchange, but that "no deal appeared imminent" according to an ESPN report. Also, Minnesota is said to be shopping their 26-year-old Spanish floor general as Wolves head coach Tom Thibodeau is looking for a "bridge" point guard to prepare Kris Dunn to an eventual starting role.

The club is also set to include small forward Shabazz Muhammad to the trade package. Moreover, Detroit has reportedly made the Italy-born Jackson, 26, "available" in the current trading period as the team has so far struggled this season. The Pistons began the season with an 11-10 record, but since Jackson came back from his left knee and thumb injuries, the team went on a downward spiral with a 9-14 slate.

Jackson is only in the second year of his five-year, $80 million contract with Detroit while Rubio is also in the second season of his four-year, $55 million deal with the Wolves. However, Pistons' head coach and team president Stan Van Gundy had refuted the reports, saying that "trade discussions this time of the year are flying around" especially that the Feb. 23 deadline is drawing near, according to Mass Live.

He also said that he already notified Jackson about the rumors and told him he is not trading him for the Spaniard. "I texted Reggie and just said, This is crazy season and we're not trading you for Ricky Rubio.' That was it. I don't normally address it, but the fact that it was out there and it concerned his agent enough to call, I addressed it," Van Gundy said.

Van Gundy then admitted that a "discussion" actually took place, but defended that potential trade talks between different NBA clubs happen all the time and it does not mean that anything is impending.

"I'm not denying that the discussion took place - they take place all the time, but that's a lot different than consideration, and clearly, we didn't make that move," Gundy added.
