When Xiaomi released the Mi Mix flagship smartphone, it was instantly praised for its high-end hardware and most importantly the near bezel-less display design. Not to be outdone, fellow Chinese smartphone manufacturer Elephone recently revealed its take on the Mi Mix design. Dubbed simply as the Elephone S8, the phone has all the trappings of a possible Xiaomi Mi Mix rival.

A leaked photo of the Elephone S8 has been making rounds on several tech websites. The phone features a near bezel-less display with the fingerprint scanner moved to the lower part of the device. The last time the S8 made headlines was when Elephone released a render of the phone showing the company's logo on the part where the fingerprint scanner now sits.

The volume buttons are seated on the right side of the phone, just below it is the power button, according to Neowin. At a quick glance, the Elephone S8 appears to be a near perfect copy of the Xiaomi Mi Mix.

Elephone is yet to confirm the official release date and the complete specs list of the S8. 

Speculations based on the leaked render and photo claim that the phone will pack a 6.0-inch display with Full HD resolution. The display could feature curved sides and top panel. The S8 is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Helio X27 chipset with a Tri-cluster core setup and clock speed of 2.6GHz, according to Giz China.
