Lupita Nyong'o and Elmo talks about loving the skin you are in

Lupita Nyong'o visits the set of Sesame Street and she and Elmo discussed the different races and to appreciate all of them.

Lupita started saying that while growing up, she found it quite tough because of her complexion. She noted that at the age of 16, she never dreamed of ever becoming a movie star because she was insecure about herself.

She and Elmo wanted to give a message to the kids saying that diversity is important and regardless of one's color or race, we are all one and the same.

Elmo said: "Elmo's skin can tell that Miss Lupita's skin is very soft." The character added that it is a beautiful brown color.

Lupita then replied that her color is what she loves about her skin noting that there are lots of beautiful shades and colors of people's skin.

31-year-old Oscar winner continued to talk to the muppet and the red character we love said that his skin is a beautiful red noting that he loves the skin he is in.

Lupita also talked about the use of the skin saying that it protects one's body, helps people touch, and that it can also be ticklish.

The 12 Years A Slave actress once talked about the definition of beauty that has been the standard idea in the entertainment business just after she won the Oscar award. She said that she hopes that the presence of her in people's screens and in the magazines may lead young girls out there on a similar journey.

She added that although one has the validation of her/his external beauty, there should still be a deeper understanding that being beautiful inside is something that should not be forgotten.

Lupita was born in Mexico, raised in Kenya and now lives in Brooklyn. She graduated from the Yale School of Drama and is the face of the French luxury cosmetics called Lancôme.

Her latest projects are the upcoming animated film of "The Jungle Book" and a role in Star Wars Episode VII that are both slated to be released next year.
