Xiaomi has apparently developing its own chipsets of processors, joining the elite team of Samsung, Apple and Huawei with own chipsets too.
This latest move will make Xiaomi the second Chinese manufacturer to build its own processors. Huawei is the first Chinese tech firm to come out with their Kirin range of chipsets. Reports said that Xiaomi will be coming out with the new phone and the new chipset in a month or so.

The Chinese tech firm is planning to launch its Pinecone chip within a month, in lieu with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. The chip is said to be manufactured by Beijing Pinecone Electronics, a company tied to Xiaomi. Xiaomi is expected to launch the chipsets with the launch of its new smartphone – Xiaomi Mi 6.
It also reported that there will be two models of the processor will be announced, including: Pinecone 1 with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and Pinecone 2 with four Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. In addition, it may be made on the 10nm process.
Xiaomi’s own chipsets will help the company from chain disruptions. Qualcomm reportedly was unable to supply enough stocks for other OEMs’ need as it provides more Snapdragon 835 for Samsung. Currently, Qualcomm is having difficulties as well with the U.S. authorities because of receiving red card for trade malpractices and other monopoly-inducing actions. The American chipmaker received a lawsuit from Apple claiming that Qualcomm is charging royalties for technologies they have nothing to do with.
Moreover, Xiaomi is also planning to increase number of markets. It is ramping up its offline distribution channel in India and acquiring local market of Indonesia as well.
