“The introduction of the forward-looking smartphone, the ZTE Gigabit Phone, marks an important cornerstone for the 5G mobile era. The ZTE Gigabit Phone is revolutionizing connectivity with a new standard of download speeds, 1Gbps, bringing a qualitative leap to a new world of mobile experience by making 360° panoramic VR video, instant cloud storage, entertainment upgrades and fast cache of ultra Hi-Fi music and movies possible,” ZTE’s statement on press release.
ZTE mentioned that Gigabit Phone will likely use a Snapdragon 835 processor, which is the first with a gigabit LTE modem by Qualcomm. Those who are early adopters of Gigabit Phone will have a difficult time finding maximum 1 Gbps speeds. Australia is the only country equipped for 1 Gbps speeds. This is possible through the launch of Netgear, Ericsson and local carrier Telstra.
Aside from ZTE, Qualcomm is also planning to bring gigabit LTE to the masses. It has also launched a product that harnesses the LTE power, which is a mobile hotspot.
The details for the Gigabit Phone will be unveiled at this month’s MWC 2017 show in Barcelona. The company will also have its latest ZTE Axon 7, which is Daydream-ready flagship smartphone. Moreover, ZTE will launch a range of new Blade devices.
