WTA International Tournaments: Cornet, Kerber, Radwanska Reach Quarterfinals

Alize Cornet defeated Shahar Peer, Angelique Kerber won against Elina Svitolina, and Agnieszka Radwanska demolished Chanelle Scheepers to advance to the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Cornet of France is the only seeded player left at the Guangzhou International Women's Open in China after taking down 2009 champion Peer of Israel, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.

The second seeded Cornet will meet wild card entry Su-Wei Hsieh of Chinese Taipei who defeated Zhu Lin of China, 6-4, 6-2.
Another wild card entry from China, Wang Yafan continued her success at the tournament as she won over Croatian Petra Martic, 7(7)-6(5), 6-3.
The 20-year-old Yafan stunned top seed Samantha Stosur in the first round on Tuesday and will now faces fellow countrywoman Kai-Lan Zhang who defeated seventh seed Jana Cepelova in the first round.
Top seed Kerber went through to the next round after defeating Svitolina of Ukraine, 6-4, 6-4, at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.
Kerber, 26, next faces sixth seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia who defeated American Coco Vandeweghe in a thrilling 7(7)-6(5), 7-5 matchup.
Also advancing to the quarters in Japan is third seeded Ana Ivanovic who won over 2013 Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka, 6-3, 6-4.
The 26-year-old Serbian will face seventh seed Lucie Safarova next who had a hard time against Swiss qualifier Belinda Bencic, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Defending champion Radwanszka shut out Scheepers of South Africa, 6-0, 6-0 at the Kia Korea Open in Seoul.
The Rogers Cup champion will next face fifth seeded American Varvara Lepchenko.
Second seeded Karolina Pliskova had a difficult second round match against Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany, 6-4, 6(5)-7(7), 6-2 and awaits the winner of the Nicole Gibbs-Danka Kovinic matchup.
American Christina McHale also advanced to the quarter-finals after battling it out in a three setter with Mona Barthel of Germany, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
