A woman convicted for the death of her girlfriend's nine-year-old son was executed on Wednesday evening via lethal injection.
Lisa Coleman was pronounced dead at 6:24 in the evening on Wednesday, 12 minutes after she received a fatal dose of pentobarbital. The decision to go through with the death sentence was finalized after her last-day appeal was rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court. Coleman, 38, was attended to by officials from the Texas Department of Criminal.

In her last minutes, Coleman smiled at her friends and family members who stood to watch her death through a window. "I'm all right," the convict told her loved ones. "Tell them I finished strong. ... God is good," she added. "Love you all" was Coleman's final message before closing her eyes.
Coleman was convicted for the demise of nine-year-old Davontae Williams in July 2004. Investigators reportedly found the child's emaciated body at Coleman's North Texas apartment. Responding officers described Williams to have had a disfigured ear, bulged hands, and ligature wounds on his ankles and wrists.
Court records also revealed that the nine-year-old victim only weighed 35 pounds, which astonished the police officers who took the body from the house. The autopsy report showed that the child died from pneumonia and malnutrition. The house was said to be shared with the victim's mother and the suspect's long-time girlfriend, Marcella Williams.
According to police findings, the child was beaten using a golf club. The ligature marks found on his wrists and ankles were caused by being bound using an extension cord. Further examination of his body revealed that over-the-counter medications were used to treat the victim's bruises and wounds.
Coleman was found guilty of capital murder in 2006. The judge then meted the death penalty as her punishment for the torture and death of the nine-year-old boy.
