Several Chinese Super League teams are reportedly targeting Australia national team manager Ange Postecoglou to become their new head coach as the 2017 China top-flight season opens this March.
Fox Sports reported that "at least one wealthy Chinese club" will try to snatch away the 51-year-old Australian mentor from the Socceroos post. The report noted that the former Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory boss, who has only 18 months left on his five-year contract, is "at the top of a shopping list" for a few unnamed CSL squads.

If Postecoglou decides to finish his Socceroos deal first before joining the CSL, then it will allow him to lead the Australia national football team to a 2018 World Cup stint in Russia, which also includes a World Cup qualifying tournament this year and a Confederations Cup participation in the summer.
The Sydney Morning Herald cited its source as saying that the "Asian Cup-winning coach has been closely monitored by the unnamed club", which is prepared to offer him a massive financial compensation that would "dwarf his current salary".
Postecoglou was appointed the manager of the Australia national team in October of 2013. He replaced German coach Holger Osieck, who was sacked after two straight 6-0 losses to Brazil and France.
The Greece-born Australian led the Socceroos during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but the team did not register a win in a tough group alongside world powerhouses Chile, the Netherlands, and Spain. Australian fans praised the group's efforts, though, as the team held their own during the said matches. He also guided the Socceroos to an Asian Cup victory just 15 months after taking over from Osieck in January 2015.
Postecoglou's wise management of a Socceroos squad that does not have a world-renowned footballer has made him a sought-after manager. So far, he has managed the Socceroos in 36 games having a win-loss-draw record of 17-12-7 for a 47.22 winning percentage.
