Capital city team Beijing Sinobo Guoan FC settled for a 1-1 draw with newly-promoted side Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng FC in a second round match of the 2017 Chinese Super League season held at the Guiyang Olympic Sports Center on Saturday.
Guizhou opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a header by Hong Kong international Festus Baise off a pass by Dutch midfielder Tjaronn Chery, Xinhua reported. Beijing found the equalizer two minutes before the halftime break courtesy of a shot by Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz with the assist coming from local midfielder Zhang Xizhe.

The Imperial Guards, now managed by Spanish head coach Jose Gonzalez, remain winless in the new China top-flight season after dropping their season-opener against defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande, 1-2, on the road at the Tianhe Stadium on March 5. Beijing is still winless in five games this year after failing to pull off a victory in three club friendlies during the preseason.
"We could have created more opportunities, but the players were not relaxed during the opening stage," Gonzalez said during the post-match press conference. "After conceding the goal they started to get back into the game little by little."
"Guizhou played really well today and it took us a very long time to adapt to the rhythm of the game. We had some serious problems when defending the set pieces and that can't happen again," he added.
Beijing will battle with the Carlos Tevez-led Shanghai Shenhua on April 2 in the third round of the CSL.
Meanwhile, it was the second consecutive drawn match for Guizhou head coach Li Bing's side as they opened their first-ever CSL campaign with two points in two games. The team is now tied on points with Liaoning Whowin, Chongqing Lifan, Henan Jianye, and Hebei China Fortune in the overall standings.
The draw has kept Guizhou unbeaten so far. They will face Hebei China Fortune in the third round of competitions on April 1.
