A suicidal male passenger tried to enter the cockpit of an Ethiopian Airlines flight en route to Beijing. The aircraft was carrying more than 200 passengers.
In the middle of the flight, Chinese media reported that the man tried to force open the cockpit door by kicking it and running into it. Although his identity is not yet revealed, witnesses said that he is about 6 feet tall and can speak both English and Chinese, evident on his screams while trying to break down the door.

When two flight attendants and two passengers failed to stop the man, passenger Cao Guoxiong, a Chinese bodybuilder, stepped in and wrestled the man to the floor. After a while, the Captain came out and helped Cao tie frenzied man's arms and pin him down. Cao sustained minor injuries such as some scratches on his face.
Flight ET604 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Beijing was diverted to the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Pakistan where the man was arrested by police. The plane landed in Beijing at 11pm on Saturday, five hours later than the scheduled arrival. The distraught passenger was reportedly fired from his job recently and was suicidal. He wanted to get into the cockpit, hijack the plane, and crash it.
Cao, who works for the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) International, sustained scratches on his face. He was warmly welcomed with flowers and cheers by his colleagues when he arrived at the airport and even received a heartfelt thank-you note from the Captain.
