Hollywood martial arts super star Jackie Chan is facing the blaze of the Internet after her estranged daughter, Etta Ng, is reported to have attempted suicide. According to Shanghaiist, the Chan family has been undergoing filial crisis for the past few weeks and this might have prompted Etta to put matters into her own hands. The report further states that she brought herself to a Hong Kong hospital to get immediate treatment.

Etta was said to have left Hong Kong on Friday, March 31 to join the friends of her mother on a Thailand vacation. This was after her former beauty pageant queen mother, Elaine Ng, has been arrested for yet another crime committed.

It can be recalled that Elaine was arrested last month when she allegedly caused commotion and argument with Etta's colleagues and friends. She defended herself saying that she only did this to protect her daughter from peer pressure after she found packs of sedatives in Etta's stuff. Her second arrest happened last year after Etta accused her of child maltreatment ans abuse, which she later retracted saying that she did it only to have someone intervene on her mother's drinking problem.

Etta decided on cutting her Thailand trip short and return to Hongkong on Sunday, April 2. Although she intended for her return to be regarded with utmost secrecy, leaks have mentioned that Chan's 17 year old daughter may have indeed tried to kill herself.

In an interview with Oriental Daily on April 3, Elaine Ng failed to confirm if her daughter's case was indeed suicide. She merely apologized to the interviewer when asked about the matter.

It is no secret in Hollywood that Jackie Chan and his daughter do not share what other would call an ideal father-daughter relationship. Chan, in an interview a few years back mentioned that his relationship with Elaine Ng was a mistake and that their daughter will not get anything from his will. This has been seconded by Etta Ng during a 2015 interview saying that her father is mainly a stranger to her and that no filial relationship was ever formed between them.
