People's commute on Monday morning in Shanghai was disturbed by a balloon.

According to Metro Line 1's operator, the part from Hulan Road to Fujin Road stations will have a speed limit and will prolong interval due to a balloon that got tangled in the electrical lines at about 630 am. The affected part expanded to Tonghe Xincun to Fujin Road after an hour.

The slow speed caused congestion in nearby stations even though they were not affected directly.

The balloon was completely removed at 8 am. The train line's operation returned to normal. The balloon was tangled on an elevated section between Gongfu Xincun and Baoan Highway. The Mylar balloon is a kind of balloon that has a metallic foil coating that can damage electrical wires.
