China is cracking down on foreign nationals who engage in espionage, which, according to Chinese law, includes giving financial help to organizations that are involved in activities that endanger national security, and provoke, tempt, and bribe government officials.
The informants' personal information will be kept confidential unless they express otherwise. They can also seek security authorities if they or their relatives are in danger due to the information they submitted. But if they gave false information, they will be charged with slander.
