Next up for Yafan is Monica Niculescu of Romania who defeated Puerto Rican Monica Puig in straight sets 6-2 6-2.

The only seeded player left in the tournament is Cornet of France who took down wild card entry Hsieh of Chinese Taipei in straight sets 7(7)-6(5) 6-1.
The 24-year-old Frenchwoman's most memorable upset of a top ranking player was with World No. 1 Serena Williams whom she defeated in the fourth round of the recent Wimbledon Championships in the grass courts of the All England Club in London.
She next faces Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland who had a relatively easy match against Maria Teresa Torro Flor of Spain 6-2 6-3.
In the doubles competition, Cornet is also through to the semifinals along with partner Magna Linette of Poland after defeating the team of Zang and Laura Thorpe 6-3 1-6 10-5.
They are set to face top seeds Yifan Xu of China and Japanese Misaki Doi who had a close match against Annika Beck and Petra Martic in the quarters 6-3 7(7)-6(3).
At the other side of the semifinals draw, Chen Liang and Chia-Jung Chuang advanced to the semis after a three-set upset against fourth seeds Raluca Olaru and Shahar Peer 6-3 1-6 10-5.
