Toray Pan Pacific Open: Caroline Wozniacki Advances to Quarterfinals

Second seed Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Australian qualifier Jarmila Gajdosova at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo on Thursday.
Gajdosova took the lead as she broke the Danish star once to take the first set.
The 24-year-old Wozniacki battled hard in the second set, forcing a 5-all deadlock but delivered a down the line that broke the Australian and finally served for the set.

Confidence is now at Wozniacki's side as she broke the 27-year-old Gajdosova in the third set to win the set and the match 4-6 7-5 6-3.
The 2010 former champion will face eighth seed Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain who defeated Russian qualifier Daria Gavrilova in straight sets 7(7)-6(5) 6-3.
Also advancing to the quarters is Spaniard Gabrine Muguruza who upset fourth seed Jelena Jankovic in two straight sets 7(7)-6(4) 6-4.
Muguruza, 20, will battle it out against Australian Casey Dellacqua who won over fellow compatriot Marina Erakovic 6-2 6-4.
Spaniards Suarez Navarro and Muguruza are teammates and are also competing in the doubles competition where they have advanced to the semifinals after defeating the Australian tandem of Gajdosova and Arina Rodionova in three sets 7-5 4-6 10-4.
The Spanish pair will next face second seeded and 2012 former doubles champions Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears of the United States who had a three-set thriller against wild card entries Dominika Cibulkova and Kirsten Flipkens 6-3 4-6 13-11.
On the other side of the doubles event, top seeds Cara Black of Zimbabwe and India's Sania Mirza advanced to the semis after defeating the Swiss pair of Belinda Bencic and Martina Hingis 6-4 6-2.
The defending champions Black and Mirza will go up against Jankovic and Arantxa Parra Santonja in the semis that ousted third seeds Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova 2-6 6-3 10-6.
