When she was still alive, she talked about her dogs in an interview saying, "Dogs are better than a husband because they don't leave the toilet seat up."
She added that because she loves her dogs so much, she lets them sit on a French fabric that costs US$300 per yard. She noted, "I am the Angelina Jolie of barkers."
According to a source close to Rivers, her dogs are her family and that they meant the world to Rivers. The source adds that the late actress just wants to make sure that if ever something happens to her, the dogs will still be taken good care of the way she did.
The dogs will no longer be living at the apartment of Rivers located at Fifth Ave. in Manhattan. They will be moving in with the assistant of Rivers, Jocelyn Pickett, who she has considered her family.
The money is reportedly from her properties she has sold. Also, she was still able to have a net worth of over US$40-50 million per year during her recent years in the show business.
The apartment of Rivers is on the process of being sold including the other floors below it that Rivers also bought for Melissa and Cooper whenever they pay her a visit.
Melissa is said to be based in Los Angeles in terms of work and she no longer needs the place in New York since it's just all too painful for her. Melissa is said to be a West Coast girl plus Cooper studies in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, "Fashion Police" will be paying the star a tribute on Friday. Also, Melissa will be there to talk about her mom and how people remembered her: straightforward, edgy and crazy.
