"Line Walker" is Highest Rated Series This Year

Line Walker

"Line Walker", the crime-thriller drama series which stars Raymond Lam and Charmaine Sheh, has received rave reviews since its initial broadcast when it averaged 32 rating points and peaked at 33 points on Monday, making it the highest rated series this year.

The record-high rating of the 45-minute television series is expected to soar with the more intensified plot in the coming episode and the more passionate kissing scene between lead stars, Charmaine and Raymond.

TVB stars Benz Hui, Oscar Leung, Samantha Ko, and Owen Cheung, the main supporting cast of Line Walker, celebrated the good ratings of the thriller drama series when they attended the publicity event.

"Line Walker" is full of romance, passion, comedy and silly happenings in contrast to the usual grim dramas about undercover characters.

The drama revolves around the lives of police undercover agents living a secret double life, who are constantly hounded by fear of being discovered or unmasked by their subjects, especially with a mole in their midst.

The storyline gets more exciting as the guesswork on the identity of the undercover is hyped. Even Samantha, who will play the role of a triad leader in episode 20 of the series, refuses to reveal the identity of the undercover character.

"I can't tell you but there will be more deaths toward the end of the series," Samantha disclosed.

Benz likewise wouldn't reveal the identity of the undercover despite the prodding of his friends, in order to keep viewers in suspense mode. However, he dished out a clue that his character is linked to Samantha's.

The good promotion and media support, coupled with the audience's thirst for excitement, are believed to have contributed to the unprecedented ratings of "Line Walker."

But success did not come easy as there were several inconveniences during its production stage. Tony Leung Ka Fai was originally part of the cast but had to pull out due to a rib injury.

Sammy Leung, who was supposed to play the role of "Lin Ho Kan," had to leave in the middle of the filming due to health reasons. His role was eventually given to Sammy Sum, while Patrick Tang took over Sammy Sum's original role as Yip Siu Leung.

And when Sammy Sum took over the role of Lin Ho Kan, Sharon Chan, who was already done shooting with Sammy Leung, had to re-shoot scenes with Sammy Sum,  resulting to a one-month delay in production.

As if that wasn't enough, Sammy Sum fell while shooting a motorcycle scene and suffered a wrist fracture that required surgery. The accident further delayed production by a few weeks until his recovery.

Given the popularity that "Line Walker" has gained, expectations run high that the crime thriller may win an award in the upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards.
