A newborn baby was rescued after being flushed down the toilet by her student mother, who reportedly fled after giving birth in east China's province of Shandong. At present, the baby is on her way to recovery.
In the hopes of concealing her pregnancy, a young woman tried to flush her own newborn child down the toilet. However, her attempt was unsuccessful after water failed to fill the 20-centimeter-wide pipe because the baby clogged it.

Rescuers immediately exhausted all efforts to extract the wailing infant from the pipe after students reported the incident. According to authorities, the students quickly sought assistance when they heard screams and discovered a helpless infant in the toilet.
It became a frantic race against time as representatives from the fire department tried to free the newborn infant from the comfort room pipe located at a student dormitory in Linyi City, Shandong Province.
"It was impossible to get the baby out from above. She had fallen into the toilet and gone down the pipes were she had got stuck between the third and fourth floors," Linyi Fire Department spokesperson Tao Fang said in an effort to describe the moment they found the baby stuck in the pipes.
According to Tao, they had to use an angle grinder to break open the pipeline located at the building's third floor and had to push the baby up to the fourth floor where other firefighters are waiting to pull him out.
After the baby girl was freed from the sewer enclosure, she was immediately given medical attention by emergency personnel who were on standby throughout the rescue operation.
After applying first aid, the baby was immediately taken to the nearest hospital.
Unfortunately, this was not the first time a baby was flushed down the toilet by her own mother in the country.
In May last year, a newborn baby boy clogged a sewer pipe in eastern China after her 22-year-old mother, who got pregnant after getting involved in a one-night stand, flushed him down the toilet.
Luckily, the newborn was also alive and successfully rescued.
As reports on the baby flushing incident emerged, so did debates on Chinese social media in relation to the mother's lack of decent values which had been squarely blamed on the country's youngsters' upbringing.
"I find the image of a young woman giving birth in the toilet, cleaning herself up and then going back to her room to carry on studying a particularly worrying one and a sign of the sort of throwaway society that we live in now days," Weibo user WangLo34 wrote condemning the reports.
