September 6th, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said during an interviewed, there is still a long way to go for the internationalization of Xiaomi Tech Inc., including a series of problems such as patents. So Xiaomi Tech chooses Taiwan and Hong Kong to launch the start-up company's pilot program. Lei Jun disclosed that the next market for the internationalization of Xiaomi Tech would be Brazil.
When talking about Hugo Barra, the ex-Google executive who has just joining Xiao Tech to lead international business development for the start-up company, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun expresses his satisfaction with Hugo Barra. Lei Jun mentioned Hugo Barra's Chinese nickname is "HU GE", which means "Tiger Bro" in Chinese. Lei Jun is effusive in his praise, saying that Hugo Barra is one of the greatest developers among all the Android product developers in the world.
"Hugo Barra is a future superstar of the silicon valley. It has been quite difficult for him to become the vice president of Android product development at Google, because the business of Android development is a tremendous amount of work. Thus it is more difficult for him to become one of the top developers." Lei Jun disclosed. Since March last year, Xiaomi Tech has started to invite Hugo Barra to join the company. Hugo Barra also visited Xiaomi Inc. for several times.
Lei Jun said the toughest part for Hugo Barra is to work in Beijing instead of in Silicon Valley. Lei Jun believes the problems during Xiaomi's internationalization process will be the same as those Lenovo once faced ten years ago.
It is known the next stop for Xiaomi Tech will be Hugo Barra's hometown Brazil. He will be responsible for Xiaomi's international business and international product development.
