September 7th, a grand event "Dream journey for Smurfs" is in process in Wuhan City, capital of Hubei Province. This is Smurfs' debut in China to celebrate their 55th anniversary.
According to the organizers, the exhibition will display 3,900 original Smurf dolls from Belgium. The most impressive highlight of the Smurf theme park will be the "Mysterious Mushroom Village", which is decorated base on the Smurfs' village in the 3D animated film "The Smurf".
The exhibition will last for a whole month until October 7th. It will become a carnival for children who love Smurfs. During the exhibition, every weekend, the "Smurf" Dream Theater in Wuhan Fountain Square will play cartoon "The Smurfs" for Children.
On the first day of the exhibition, there are thousands of Wuhan citizens coming to visit these adorable Smurf dolls. The organizers estimate there will be a total of more than 80,000 tourists coming to visit these Smurfs during the upcoming Chinese long vacation.
Officials from Wuhan Tourism Bureau hope the exhibition will become a large event to promote the development of Wuhan tourism in 2013. They also hope the exhibition will contribute to the cultural exchanges between China and Belgium.
This year is the 55th anniversary for the Smurfs. They were created by Peyo Culliford in 1958. And more than half a century has passed, now, the blue creatures are still loved by children from all over the world. This is the second time for these original Smurfs to visit a foreign country, while the first time for them to go abroad is visiting to Rome to celebrate the "Global Smurfs Day" on June 22nd.
