Third seeded Ana Ivanovic defeated top seed Angelique Kerber and advanced to the finals against Caroline Wozniacki of the Toray Pan Pacific Open at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Serbian was down 3-5 in the first set but broke the German twice to take the set and continued her momentum in the second set to oust Kerber 7-5 6-3.

"In the beginning it really took me some time to adjust to her game," Ivanovic said. "But once I adjusted and got more aggressive it started to go my way."

The 2008 French Open champion will face second seed Wozniacki on Sunday who made it to the finals after defeating Garbine Muguruza of Spain in three sets 6-4 2-6 6-2.

The recent U.S. Open finalist Wozniacki fended off 19 out of 23 service break points from the 20-year-old Spaniard but the errors got the best of Muguruza in the end as she produced a total 50 unforced errors.

The 2010 tournament winner Wozniacki just kept fighting to stay in the game against the aggressive Muguruza but thought that she had "a little bit more energy" in the end.

Muguruza also played in the finals of the doubles competition along with fellow compatriot Carla Suarez Navarro against the defending champions Cara Black and Sania Mirza.

The top seeds Black and Mirza were in tune in the first set as they broke the Spanish tandem twice to take the first set but Muguruza and Suarez Navarro regained their composure in the second set to take it at five apiece.

The Zimbabwe-India pair got the break that they needed and served out for the set and the match 6-2 7-5.

The World No. 6 Black and Mirza most impressive performance in a Grand Slam tournament was at the recent U.S. Open where they lost to Martina Hingis and Flavia Pennetta in the semifinals.\
