"All you have to do is sign up for OneDrive and activate the auto upload feature for your camera roll sometime between now and the end of September, and you will get 30 GB of free OneDrive storage moving forward (15 GB base and 15 GB camera roll bonus)," Pearce wrote.
He added that iPhone users that wish to install iOS8, which requires five gigabytes of free space on the device's built-in memory, cn avail of the deal so the owner won't have to permanently delete pictures or programs on the phone for the upgrade.
"For those buying a new phone, it means you can take all the high resolution photos and videos you want without worrying about the amount of storage you have," Pearce added.
For iPhone owners that have existing accounts on OneDrive, they'll also be given the increased data storage capacity.
The Redmond-based company is able to rapidly offer promos such as these and defend itself in the cloud-storage industry since it manages data centers and purchases storage at scale.
Rival file-sharing service are now available, however, Venture Beat's Jordan Novet said that storage boosts, price cuts and other teasers from Amazon are to be expected in the future.
Although the privately owned Dropbox and Box have attempted to boost their storage capacities as well, both companies are still lagging behind Microsoft.
