The details about Farrel's character in 'True Detective Season 2' is yet to be revealed. According to a media outlet, the actor stated that he knows very little of what goes in the second season.

Although HBO did not give any immediate comment about the rumors that had been previously circulating about the casting of the lead, sources say that Farrel has been considered for the role since July this year.

It has also been rumored that actors Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn will be taking on their own roles in the second season. Kitsch is said to be portraying the role of another detective investigating a murder of a businessman while Vaughn is said to be playing the character of a corrupt businessman in the series.

On a side note, the actress who will be playing the lead female role is still a mystery. It was rumored that Elisabeth Moss will be taking on the role, but in a recent interview, the actress denied it.

'The Wrap' reported that there were seven actresses who are in the running for the role, including actresses Jessica Biel and Rosario Dawson who starred alongside Farrel in the movie 'Alexander'.

Speculations say that Dawson has the advantage in being cast as the female lead since she seems to match the character that Farrel will be playing in the second series.
