Apple remains one of the most popular technology brands, but some dispute its standing claiming that it has lost its "cool factor." The company recently announced its new hardware and software cycles, but consumer reactions are mixed with some favoring Android over the Cupertino-based brand despite reportedly more innovative offerings.

People were asked about the coolness factor of five popular technology brands, including Apple, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Dell, and Android. The results showed that respondents gave Android the highest "coolness" rating, which runs on devices like Samsung and Xiaomi.
Although the survey was based on a small sample size, it shows that the cheaper Android products have taken over Apple, which subsequently took away a portion of the company's "coolness" factor. People mentioned that Apple has become less "original" than when it was under the leadership of the late Steve Jobs.
Reuters conducted a poll a few weeks ago, and results have shown that 16% of the respondents said that Apple is "less cool" now than it was in previous years. However, 11% of the respondents also said that Android had lost luster compare with before. Kevin Keller, a branding expert, shared: "Especially, when you have competitors who are creating innovative products and doing great advertising and marketing, it is not surprising that Apple does not have the same coolness that it once had."
While it is still one of the largest enterprises in the tech industry, with projected sales of nine million iPhone 6 units during its weekend release, Apple appears to be losing its star value. Rob Janoff, Apple's logo designer and an independent branding and design expert, said that "you cannot carry that magic forever."
Nonetheless, a lot of customers are still waiting in line to get their hands on the latest Apple gadget. In fact, numerous consumers have to wait for about a month for their iPhone 6's because of the huge demand. Apple logged a record four million first day pre-orders, which is double the amount of pre-orders for the iPhone 5 two years ago.
